State Core Set Scorecard
2024 Medicaid/CHIP · band-normalized composites
Medicaid / CHIP Core Set
State quality scorecard
Every Core Set rate is placed in the national inter-quartile band (0 = bottom quartile, 1 = top), direction-flipped when lower is better, then rolled up measure → domain → state. The primary composite weights the seven domains equally. Consistency is the spread across measures — two states with the same average can be reliably mid-pack or great at some and weak at others. Average vs. consistency
X = domain-equal composite. Y is inverted so up means more consistent (lower σ). Crosshairs are national medians. Click a point for state detail.
- Consistently strong — high composite, low spread
- Strong but uneven — high composite, high spread
- Consistently weak — low composite, low spread
- Weak but uneven — low composite, high spread
Composite methodology: band normalization & domain-equal rollup. Always read n measures alongside the composite.
Ranked states
Default sort by rank. Composite is domain-equal; consistency σ is measure-level spread (lower = more consistent).
